I have been very fortunate in my life to have played many fine pianos -
including many Hamburg Steinways. I have a very discerning ear and have played
since early childhood. I'm now in my late 40s and have played professionally for
almost 30 years. I can't afford one of those Hamburgs - until now. This of
course is not a HS but it's the closest thing in a portable digital piano you're
going to find. The feel and tone are top shelf and it's built like a tank. It
has many other fabulous tones too! Organ, (with emulated physical slidebars),
and ambient effects compliment this quality package.
It is so easy to fool the neighbors into thinking I'm playing a 9'1" grand. I
still gig and the only downside is that it's heavy - especially when it's in its
hard case (a must). Eventually technology might overcome that downside, but I
think this is still the best at present. I almost forgot - Roland also has a
bunch of excellent sound cards that plug right into it (two maximum at a time),
so the additional sound potential for this rig is phenomenal! You can check out
the sound libraries at the Roland web site. You can't go wrong with this board,
but be sure to have speakers that are also top of the line, then you too can be
Maurizio Pollini. . .well. . .sort of ;o) Roberto Zolessi |

I have been playing for 16 years and this thing is unreal! The organ effects are
execptional, there are so many options with the tonewheel sounds. Very close to
the B3 sound, which is what sold me on this. I wanted something as close to the
B3 sound as possible as well as all of the other extremely realistic sounds. The
Grand sound is second to none. Overall you cannot go wrong with this. A nice
chunck of change to shell out but trust me its worth every bit of it. This thing
covers all angles. Only thing is that its heavy. If you are gigging it can be a
beast. Definetly better in a house or studio. But still not impossible to haul
just a bit heavy. Other than that, this thing rocks. Worth every penny for
sure!!! Tommy Badrocks |

This is one serious set of keys but only for serious musicians!
You'll see how the price stacks up because trust me, you'll want the
best of the accessories: the Roland KS-V7 stand, a custom-molded
case (this is a beast to transport without the proper case), and a
nice set of at least 12" monitors to make use of its beautiful
sounds. In my opinion, though, the RD-700SX is well worth the
expense, and if you're looking for a professional keyboard, you
won't be let down with this one. I personally have found its
combination of brilliantly sampled sounds, perfectly weighted keys,
and incredibly extensive customization options to be vastly superior
than what the Yamaha MOTIF-ES8, Yamaha MO8, and Korg Triton have to
offer.
Before going Yamaha or Korg, try out the Roland RD-700SX!
